McLeod Glaziers Strike Gold

Gold Armed Forces Covenant

McLeod Glaziers are delighted and truly honoured to be awarded the prestigious Gold Armed Forces Covenant.

The Gold Armed Forces Covenant represents the highest badge of honour available by the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

The Gold accolade is awarded to businesses that pledge & demonstrate outstanding support towards the Armed Forces community.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

We join a very exclusive list of only 493 businesses in the UK that have the Gold Covenant.

It’s an unbelievable achievement to share the same accolade with some of the UK’s largest and most well-known companies, Amazon, Barclays & Microsoft to name a few.

To qualify for the gold award, organisations must provide at least 10 extra paid days leave for Reservists and have supportive HR policies in place for veterans, Reserves, and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, as well as spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.

Organisations must also advocate the benefits of supporting those within the Armed Forces community by encouraging others to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in the Employer Recognition Scheme.

This award has personal significance to our CEO, Derek Petterson, who served 7 years in the British Army as part of the Royal Tank Regiment.

Derek, commented, “No one said chasing dreams would be easy, but the joy for McLeods in winning this Gold Award has shown it’s right to.

It is an absolute honour, and I am extremely proud of our team.

As a former member of the Armed Forces, I’d like to dedicate this achievement to those I served with and to those who continue to serve to this day.

I am very proud of what McLeods contributes to our local community and I am committed to continuing our great work that supports and helps raise awareness of the Armed Forces community.”

Although the official awards presentation and dinner won’t be until the 21st of October at Edinburgh Castle, Roy McLellan, Regional Employer Engagement Director paid us a visit at Rosemary House to personally congratulate us and present an oversized gold certificate.

Roy commented, “Firstly, congratulations to everyone at McLeods. I am very pleased to be working with McLeods – they have been great advocates for the Armed Forces Community and have shown continued enthusiasm and commitment to progress from the bronze award up to the Gold award.”
