A team of 17 from both McLeods and our sister company Meldrum Construction dawned their best Santa outfits to take on the challenging 5K Perth Santa Run.
Every member of our team completed the circuit, which included running up Perth High Street before crossing over to Bridgend and finishing with a lap of the Inch.
MS Society Scotland Perth & Kinross Group was selected as our chosen charity and as a team, we have been raising money via a JustGiving page in the build-up to the event.
The MS Society is a cause very close to our family businesses hearts so we were delighted to be raising money for such a worthwhile cause.
Our JustGiving page generated £460 with donations pouring in from colleagues, friends and family.
We also received an extremely generous donation, handed into us by Hugh McMaster on behalf of the Craigie Hill Golf Club, just before we set off for our run, which was very much appreciated.
As promised before the event, whatever our total fundraising total was, Derek would match 100%. That equals an amount of £1,920, but we prefer round numbers here at McLeods…
So, we are delighted to announce that a total of £2,000 will be going directly to the MS Society Scotland Perth & Kinross Group. An unbelievable amount which completely surpasses our original fundraising targets.
We recently invited Alison Gallacher, Finance Volunteer and Alison Cummings, Administration Volunteer from the MS Society Perth & Kinross Group to our Head Office to receive a cheque and to tell us more about what the money would be used for.
The money raised will be going to support the group’s contribution to My MS My Way, a project run in partnership with the MS Therapy Centre Tayside which is based at Ninewells, for people across Tayside who have been diagnosed with MS.
Some aspects of the Project are open to everyone with a diagnosis of MS but some are directed more for people who have recently been diagnosed. It was the result of a wide-reaching consultation a couple of years ago and this was what people in Tayside said they needed and would have helped when they were first diagnosed.
Derek Petterson, CEO commented, “An outstanding effort from all of our team, raising such a great amount of money for a cause very close to my heart. I am very proud of our team for all their hard work and their fundraising efforts. It was a great Festive day out and we look forward to next years event.”
Alison Gallacher, from MS Society Perth & Kinross Group, said, “This fantastic donation will enable us to support My MS My Way project to meet it objectives for people diagnosed with MS in Perth & Kinross. Our thanks go to the entire team at McLeods Glaziers/Meldrum Construction for taking part in the Santa Run for us, and the support from Craigie Hill Golf Club.”
